See ya, Brisbane
We arrived in Brisbane yesterday, and we leave tomorrow afternoon. Well, I suppose, this afternoon. Good Friday is a major public holiday around here. We were originally planning to go see the Andy Warhol exhibit in the morning at the Gallery of Modern Art, but it's going to be closed.
Today was a lazy, rainy day. It was kind of a nice change of pace. We walked around town in a big loop, hitting South Bank and some of the many retail shopping opportunities near our hotel. Blundstones successfully purchased! We also managed to visit two indie record stores within about five blocks of each other. We would have visited another, but alas, only the paint on the windows remained. We've also had a couple of excellent, super expensive seafood meals in Brisbane.
What would this trip be without some rock tourism? On Wednesday we saw Wilco at the Tivoli. It was a really fun show - I've never seen a concert so far from home before. Oh, and the women's bathrooms at the Tivoli are pretty amazing.
Tomorrow we have to say goodbye to Australia. I'm sad - even though I've been here for a week and a half, I feel like it's barely been any time at all. We keep making plans for "next time" when we realize there's something we didn't manage to do - here's hoping there is a next time in Oz.
(I'd add a couple of pictures, but I currently have about five minutes of internet left ... so check back later.)
