Snow: it will never, ever stop

Today we broke the record for Madison's snowiest winter ever. We're currently over 79 inches for the season, and may be over 85 inches by the end of the week. It's long been my stance that snow is great up until January 1st, after which point it (and any cold weather) can go ahead and be finished. So as you might imagine, this really has not been my year. I am so tired of never being able to confidently plan any sort of activities or travel, because odds are that it will be snowing and blowing and the roads will be icy and crappy. I'm tired of not being sure when I leave in the morning if I'll be able to get back up my driveway that evening without shoveling the entire thing first. (Believe me, that is no small feat.) I don't even mind shoveling in general, but it's a pain to need to shovel before you can put your car away.

I know I'm probably preaching to the choir here, especially if any of my readers are home owners who live anywhere that has real winter and not wussy winter. (Californians.) Good thing I'm leaving for greener pastures in a few weeks. Watch, now March here will be the warmest March ever. I mean, I'd be happy for everyone around here, of course ... just kidding! I totally want the March weather to continue sucking. And I want to read about it when I'm in New Zealand, enjoying a day where the temperature is above 60 degrees.

I'd like to think I live in a place with hearty winters (New York), but the truth is we've gotten barely any snow this year. And it's even been sorta warm a couple days. So I sympathize.

Being a DC denizen, I'm a non-california winter wuss now, but I lived on the north side of Connecticut for a few years, and it was before global warming even. So you've got my sympathy, and many wishes for sunny blue skies while your skipping around on the other half of the world.

Tall snow does make for cool pictures, though, doesn't it?

Ah yes, I'm with you. And I wish I'd be with you on your trip out of here as well!! hahaha. I can't wait to see pics and hear stories.

I am so done with the whole wondering-if-I'll-be-able-to-gun-it-into-the-driveway-this-time thing. Ready for Spring. Not Summer, just Spring!
