Fact

Today is the nicest January day in the history of time. It's sunny and 50 degrees. It's the kind of day that makes me think, "Spring! YAY SPRING!" and then my brain catches up and laughs bitterly because it's actually January freaking 12th, and I'll probably be buried up to my boobs in snow two weeks from now. I guess you have to take these days wherever you can get them, though.

Sunday night I saw "Brokeback Mountain." I was all proud of myself because I just ducked into the last matinee of the afternoon - and then proceeded to buy a bottle of water for $3.00. The theater was all, "HAHA, joke's on you, sucka!" It's creepy when theaters talk to you.

Anyway, though, I thought the movie was excellent. Ang Lee is really a master film craftsman. And hot freaking damn, Heath Ledger is hot. I've found him hot for a long time (since "Roar" made its short-lived run on FOX in 1997 - shut up) but always in a "slightly too pretty" kind of way. Until "Brokeback Mountain." Sweet Lord. I preferred his Wyoming accent to most of the British accents he does in other films. It occurred to me last night that I don't think I've ever heard him use his actual accent (he's Australian) ... ever. Heath's hotness aside, I do recommend the movie. It's sad, but good.

I'll leave you with some Ang Lee-related amusement. This is from an interview with Heath Ledger in The Advocate:

That last kitchen scene?

That was the very first scene we shot!

Which is one of your most challenging scenes in the film.

That was the very ****ing first day! I remember sitting in the trailer with Michelle and kind of just sitting there talking about what we were gonna do, and then Ang just walks past the door and is like, "Ha ha ha ha! You make hard scene first day! First day, very hard! Ha ha ha ha ha!"

Ha!

I ... don't think I have seen it. I don't sense it's worth renting, either - I'll just look for a talk show appearance; I'm sure there have to be some coming up.

I haven't seen it yet. I've really been looking forward to it though, as it's had so much Oscar buzz etc. I'm glad you guys liked it, I'm sure I will too!

Go Michelle Williams! Proof that at least one of the girls from the Creek can start off a family and not appear to be COMPLETELY brainwashed! :)

Heidi - no kidding. Too bad she couldn't slap some sense into Joey ... uh, I mean, Katie. And I'm glad you're enjoying the literature. I showed that to some people before the Second City thing in December (I've been carrying it around with me for that long trying to remember to copy it), and they enjoyed it too. They also thought we were on crack, but who wouldn't?
