Total books read: 71

Fiction books: 47 (66%)

By male authors: 33 (46%)
By both: 3 (4%)

Marketed for children/teens: 21 (30%)

You should definitely read: 26a by Diana Evans. I didn't not expect it to be good, but it took me completely by surprise. One of the best books I read in 2006, and one of the most unique.

You absolutely should not read: The Lake House by James Patterson. It was the first book I ever read by James Patterson, and based on this book, it will also be the last. I know he's a hugely popular writer, and I have no idea why. I'm not entirely convinced that he's not just a highly trained monkey.

Did I ever tell you that David Pelzer lived down the street from us in Daly City? He was in my brother's class at school (and his brothers were in my and my sisters' classes). All the teachers mentioned in the book were our teachers, and are still good friends of my mom's. The whole story was always really sad, and since his books have become huge bestsellers, it's just all very weird.

Great list, BTW.

Happy New Year!
Fantastic list. I'm in awe how how fast you must read. You average under a week per book! Craziness.
I've started the New Year off by beginning (for the first time) the Anne of Green Gables series. I figured, I love the movies so much, why not read the books! They're probably better anyway. :)

And what will your first book of the year be?

Trish, I think you guys were talking about David Peltzer when Gina and I joined your family for dinner, now that I think about it. What a sad story. Did you know his mom at all, and if so, did she seem completely crazy or normal? Heidi, keep in mind that some of these books were, for example, American Girls stories. :-) I loooooove the Anne of Green Gables series and I hope you do too. My first book of 2007 will hopefully be finished tonight - A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I'd never seen the movie or read the book, and I'm really liking it.

I've heard of that book, and I didn't know it was a movie. I'll have to check it out! My friend Michelle is reading "The Thirteenth Tale" (or is it "story"?) and she's letting me borrow it when she's finished. It sounds good to me.

Yeah, I've been so busy that I'm only on page 10 still!!! But so far, I'm lovin Anne of GG! :)

Hey there, if you are going to read anything by James Patterson...you gotta' read one of his Alex Cross books, total pageturners (vapid, but fun). I haven't liked any of the others that don't involve Cross.

Word on the U2 book, that thing is freaking huge! Also, those twins are looking awesome!
